William W. Smith, M.D.
Dr. Smith joined the Methodist Physicians Clinic as of September 1, 2002 and is also serving as Medical Director of Orthopedics for Methodist Health System. He is board certified and one of two members on our medical staff who has been chosen for membership in the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He has previously served as coordinator for the Sports Medicine Program at Methodist Hospital and as the team physician for the Omaha Mustangs and the Millard School system in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s.

He pioneered arthroscopy in our area performing the first of many different arthroscopic procedures in the late 70s and early 80s. He has extensive experience in knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, shoulder arthoscopy, and rotator cuff repairs. He has performed over 1,000 hip replacements and over 2,000 knee replacements.

Dr. Smith obtained his medical degree at University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1969. He completed his internship at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in 1970 and his orthopedic residency at the University of Nebraska Affiliated Hospitals in 1973.

Ajoy K. Jana, M.D.
Dr. Jana is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specialized in the treatment of hip and knee arthritis. He completed his Joint Replacement fellowship at the renowned Anderson Orthopedic Clinic in Alexandria, Virginia. Dr. Jana has extensive experience with hip and knee replacements including the latest minimal-incision surgical techniques. His practice also includes comples revision operations for worn-out or faiiled prostheses. In addition to joint replacements, Dr. Jana's practice also includes sports injuries, fractures, and general orthopedics.

"I believe that well-informed patients are able to approach surgical procedures with less apprehension," Dr. Jana says. "I want each of my patients to know what to expect before, during, and after their surgery, so that they can get the maximum benefit from it.

Dr. Jana earned his undergraduate degree at Duke University in North Carolina and obtained his medical degree from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Jana completed his residency at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio. Dr. Jana also completed a hip and knee fellowship.

Dr. Jana and his wife have three children.


Darren R. Keiser, M.D.
Dr. Keiser joined us in 2003. He is an Omaha native having attended Millard North High School. He is an Eagle Scout. He served a volunteer mission for his church in Guatemala and is fluent in Spanish. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brigham Young University and returned to Omaha, Nebraska to attend the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He graduated with High Distinction, being one of the top students of his graduating class. His orthopedic residency was at the prestigious Campbell Clinic in association with the University of Tennessee. Dr. Keiser is a father of six children and is active in his church. Dr. Keiser is Board Certified and practices general orthopedics, providing fracture care, hip and knee replacements, arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction and rotator cuff repair as well as general Sports Medicine. He also does surgery on the hand and the foot.

Keith M. DeFini, P.A.-C
Mr. DeFini attended Creighton University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology. He was a Division I All-American soccer player in 1993-1994 and was also Academic All-American in those two years. He was also named Nebraska Athlete of 1994. He played professional soccer in both the United States and Germany following his graduation and returned to Nebraska to enroll in the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He received a Masters of Physicians Studies in 2001. He worked as a Physicians Assistant for an orthopedic group in Lawrence, Kansas and joined Methodist Physicians Clinic in 2002. He assists three orthopedic physicians with surgical procedures as well as their office practice. He and his wife have three daughters.

Jeremy Campbell, P.A.-C, ATC

Jeremy Campbell earned his Bachelor's degree at National American University in Rapid City, South Dakota, and his Master's degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Campbell is a board certified Physician Assistant, a certified athletic trainer and is a member of the American Association of Physician Assistants. He is also active in his own sports activities.
